I live in Sydney and while at first it seemed real, I think you may be on to something.
Clearly the fire brigade must have been in on the joke too, since they were all over the streets yesterday morning, claiming that fire alarms were going off due to the dust false-triggering smoke detectors in office buildings. In reality they probably just wanted some overtime so they went along with the ruse.
Also, the exact type of filter must have been coordinated by time. People posting pictures early in the day had the deep red filters, but my officemates' shots are all yellow. Must be if you were uploading later in the day, you had to use a more yellowish filter?
After I went for a run in the morning, I noticed some stinging in my eyes, which I haven't quite gotten over yet. Someone must have rubbed something in my eyes overnight, I guess, to complete the effect.
Great prank, I agree. Congrats on exposing it! ;-)
See, how do I know you're not in on it? You wily Aussies, you all band together. I've seen you singing your rugby songs at matches... I TRUST NONE OF YOU!
Nonsense, it's real! I had to deal with it myself! What's next, are you going to start claiming that the Drop Bears are all a hoax too?
I knew this guy once who said the Gulf War was totally staged.
Then a vet came home and shot him right between the eyes.
Funny stuff.
